Mercedes-Benz JuniorCup January 6 & 7, 2017

Leicester City

What the RB Leipzig team is to the Germans is Leicester City to the English. Although on a different basis, the Leicester team aka. surprise masters have a long tradition even in their youth. Especially one name stands out in the youth work of the association, Gary Linkeker. He is one of the most famous English soccer players, who completed his training in Leicester and played for Everton, Barcelona, and Tottenham. Today, Lineker is a well-known expert in England that believes especially in one thing: "soccer is a simple game. 22 people run after a ball - in the end, the Germans win.” Gordon Banks, Peter Shilton and Emile Heskey are additional figureheads of Leicester’s youth work, who have made a valuable contribution to the surprising championship victory. Currently three performers from their own youth players belong to the pro squad; Jeffrey Schlupp (current market value 8 million euros), Andy King (3.5 million euros), and Ben Chilwall (2.5 million euros). Well represented in Leicester is also the Bundesliga. Shinzji Okazaki (former VfB Stuttgart player), Robert Huth, Ron-Robert Zieler, Christian Fuchs as well as the English star Jamie Vardy, are all a part of the team.
