Hoffenheim Wins the 27th Mercedes-Benz Junior Cup

Two teams from Baden-Württemberg ended up at the finals competing against each other in the Glaspalast: TSG 1899 Hoffenheim was able to win the finals for the very first time

Approximately 10,000 viewers observed on both days a leveled tournament and youth soccer at its highest level, which at the end the Bundesliga clubs won. The teams from South Korea, Leicester City, and Rapid Wien were certainly able to keep up, but ultimately only the two German teams reached the finals. Last year’s tournament competitors of the finals were Rapid Wien and Manchester United. Although Hoffenheim lost against Rapid Wien at the last year finals, this time they proved to be the most consistent team during the two-day tournament, and had the best player with Captain Theodoros Politakis.

Titleholder Rapid Wien, who was unable to perform strong enough like on the first tournament day, ended up in third place after losing the semifinals against VfB Stuttgart with 2:4.

In the second semi –final it was the tournament debutant RB Leipzig, who lost against the TSG 1899 Hoffenheim with 3:4.

The best player of the tournament was Hoffenheim's captain Theodoros Politakis, and the best goalkeeper was Cameron Yates (Leicester City).
