Bayern München and Vikingur Reykjavik at the 28th Edition in Sindelfingen
For the first time, an Icelandic team is competing in the Glaspalast of Sindelfingen / Five Bundesliga teams meet three top international teams / National player Joshua Kimmich presents the groups
From 5 - 6 January 2018, the top international junior soccer plazers will meet again at the Mercedes-Benz JuniorCup in the Glaspalast of Sindelfingen. There will be two premieres at the 28th edition; Vikingur Reykjavik's U19 and Panathinaikos' Athens will be competing for the first time at the tournament. This means more than 40 junior internationals will show their skills.
This time at the top-class tournament, the Bundesliga younger generation is particularly well represented; the defending champion TSG 1899 Hoffenheim has been in the finals of the German championship three times, from 2014 to 2016. Also competing is the local hero VfB Stuttgart, the 1. FC Köln and Hertha BSC Berlin as well as the junior players of the FC Bayern München team. The team of the German championship record holder returns to the Glaspalast for the first time in 24 years and, with Manuel Wintzheimer they have a player in their team who has already been sitting on the bench with the professionals in the Champions League this season.
The Icelandic U19 Cup winner Vikingur Reykjavik represents in Sindelfingen, the country of the World Cup participant who in recent years has caused a sensation in international soccer. Panathinaikos Athens, a team from Greece, competes for the first time. The Swiss Soccer takes care of outstanding quality in the newcomer field, which represents the team Grasshopper Club Zurich.
This year, the draw took place during the international match of the German national team against France. Joshua Kimmich, who was honored as the "best player of the tournament" in Sindelfingen in 2013, carried out the group draw. The following groups are competing on the on the 5th and 6th of January:

Meanwhile, 29 former participants of the Mercedes-Benz JuniorCup have made it into the German national team, most recently Joshua Kimmich and Kevin Trapp. More than 100 players played after their JuniorCup participation, for their respective national team.
Even the trainee teams of the Daimler AG will be determining their champions by January in Sindelfingen. Thereby in Group 1, the following factories will be competing: Sindelfingen, Mannheim, Ludwigsfelde, Wörth and EvoBus Neu-Ulm. The teams of Group 2 are the following factories: Untertürkheim, Bremen, Gaggenau, Kassel, and Düsseldorf.
